Pokémon Go is the brand new game that is moving across the nation and undoubtedly the world. It’s a game in an app that uses the original Pokemon game and the idea of capturing Pokemon and defeating gym leaders. But, this game has people walking around town and literally jumping off of the couch with excitement.
Pokémon Go uses Google Maps to place Pokémon around the world.
Players use a tracking system to locate Pokemon in a 30 meter radius. Once the player sees the Pokemon on their screen, they then use the camera on their mobile device to aim and throw a Pokéball at the Pokémon to capture it. Below there are several explanations of game play and of course lots of cool PokemonGo stuff to buy.
It’s an estimated 9 million people who are wanting to become the next Pokémon master.
The app has groups of friends searching around their towns and cities to catch’em all. It sounds fun, right? So here are five basic tips to get you started, so that you and your friends can join in on the action.
1. The Tracking System
• The button is located in the lower right hand corner of your phone showing you what Pokemon are in a 30 meter radius of your location via Google Maps.
• Notice how your avatar has a circle around it, almost like they are using radar? This circle extends up to 10 meters so that you can more accurately find and pinpoint nearby Pokemon.
• Click the tracking system button now. Notice the footprints by each Pokemon? Each footprint represents approx. 10 meters. So, if the Pokemon has two footprints by them then they are around 20 mtrs. away. If the Pokemon has one footprint then they are only 10 meters away from you and you need to go catch them!
2. Pokémon Candy and Stardust
• Pokémon evolve once you obtain the right amount of candy needed to evolve them .
• Stardust is used to’ power up’ the combat level (CP) of your Pokemon character.
• Wait as long as you can to use these on a high CP Pokemon so that when they evolve the Pokemon have the highest amount of CP as possible.
3. Where to Find Pokémon
• Many Pokémon are concentrated in popular areas and places around where you live; Such as downtown centers or famous landmarks like museums and historical buildings.
• If you want to find a certain type of Pokémon, then look for them in areas that would match their natural environment. For instance, you can find water Pokémon by water like lakes, ponds, oceans and fountains. Your chances of finding a ghost Pokémon are better at night, and grass Pokémon would mostly be found in fields, parks and the forest.
• Some Pokémon can only be had by walking to hatch them from eggs or by evolving them.
4. Important Items.
• Pokéballs are of course the most important item because you need them to capture the Pokémon. Be sure to often find Pokéstops near you. To collect these and other items from a Pokéstop, use your finger to flip the icon in the center of the circle then you will see what you get. Most of the time it’s several Pokéballs and other items.
• You can also use items like incense and lures to attract Pokemon right to your location. Since you do not have many of these it is important to use them only when needed or sparingly.
• Remember, your backpack can only hold so many items, so be sure to get rid of any items. If you have enough coins or gems though you can upgrade your backpack for more space.
5. Challenging Gyms
• You can challenge gyms once your avatar reaches level 5.
• Choose a Pokemon you want to use in the attack. Hit the other Pokémon by rapidly tapping your finger on them. You can then diminish their health by hitting them.
• Dodge their attacks by swiping right or left. If you die you can call up another Pokemon to battle until all of your Pokemon are used.
• To use a special attack ~ press and hold your finger down on the other Pokemon.
